The Magnificent Mile

Barry had the week before Christmas off of work, but the kids were still in school until Friday, so we decided to take a little trip down to Chicago for a night with some good friends. First we went to the Museum of Science and Industry. It was a lot of fun. The highlights were the airplane that was suspended off of the second floor, the indoor lightning and tornado, and the baby chicks hatching from eggs.

After the museum we headed to our hotel downtown on Michigan Ave. We couldn't believe the spectacular lake and city views from the 35th floor. Later that evening we took a stroll down to Navy Pier to see the lights and have dinner at Bubba Gumps! We decided to take a taxi back to the hotel after dinner, and that was Kendra's favorite part of the trip. Then we took another walk, but this time down Michigan Ave to window shop, and then back to the hotel to swim! It was a nice little get away.

My Baby is 1!

Jaxson turned one today! He had a great day filled with all of his favorites for the day. Eggs for breakfast, Chicken Nuggets for lunch, and pizza for dinner! He loved his cake, but mostly just the frosting! We love our little Jax!

Halloween Night

Trunk or Treat

The church trunk or treat and carnival was so much fun. Kendra won the pumpkin carving contest because her pumpkin had a crown!

Halloween Party

This year we decided to be festive for Halloween, so we had a party! It was a lot of fun. We played the Halloween Olympics with all kinds of events. We had apple bobbing, donut eating, mummy wrapping, flour cutting, soda chugging and sticky eyeball throwing fun.

1st Day of School

We had a great first day of school! This year Tanner started at the intermediate school and got to ride the bus for the first time to school. As he and his friends got on the bus we waved goodbye and they all actually waved back with great big smiles. Kara was at Harmony again and had a fun day seeing all of her friends that she missed over the summer. Kendra started pre-k. She goes in the afternoon and she kept asking how much longer until she got to go to school. She had no problems saying goodbye and was happy that it was finally her turn to go to school.
After we dropped off Kendra, Jaxson took a long nap and I felt so productive with no interruptions for the first time in a while. I got to take a nap, make a snack for the kids, make dinner, and sweep and mop the floor.

Pioneer Day Celebration

On Sunday we needed a fun activity to do together so we made graham cracker covered wagons and handcarts. They were all so creative and really got into it!

Water Tower 5 K Run

The kids and I ran and walked in a 5 K race on Saturday. Tanner was a great runner and took 3rd place in his age group. Kara wanted run, but I wasn't sure if she would make it, but she ran ahead of all of the walkers and she would have got a medal had I entered her in the race (next year). Jaxson rode in a stroller and slept the whole way! It was a fun day and we plan on going next year...hopefully Barry will be able to come with us!

Tennis Lessons

Tanner and Kara have been taking tennis lessons and they Love it! Kara was excited the other day when her teacher asked for her autograph because she was doing well. Kara was smiling so big in every single picture I took!
Tanner has loved learning how to serve and can't wait for the days he takes lessons.
